- Can you create a lighting idea I've seen?
- Usually, yes. Show me a photo or sketch and we can discuss it. The kitchen ceiling canopy on this page was designed with the customer. You can read his review on this page.
- Do downlights need anything special?
- Yes. Cutting holes into plasterboard compromises fire safety. I always use fire-rated downlights to seal the opening. I keep insulation safely clear of the fittings.
- Can any light fixture be fitted in a bathroom?
- It depends. Under the wiring regulations, bathrooms are divided up into safety zones, up to a height of 2.25m. Any fitting installed within these zones must meet the IP rating of the zone.
- Is it worth changing to LED?
- LED fittings use far less power than old bulbs and last much longer. Most new fittings are LED now, so swapping a tired fitting usually means moving to LED anyway.
